Bryce Thompson

PSYCHOLOGIST

Bryce is a friendly and passionate psychologist who has a passion for supporting all people, specifically those who experience disability, Complex Trauma and working with children and young people. He uses humor (when appropriate) and a lighthearted approach to assessment and intervention to build a strong therapeutic relationship, which allows for better therapeutic outcomes. I am a strong listener and very empathic, allowing me to put myself in my clients situation. He is a Registered Psychologist and worked as a Behaviour Support Practitioner for one of Australia’s leading NGOs supporting young people in care and with disabilities.

He has experience working as a School Psychologist as he have a strong passion for supporting children and adolescents, with mental health, academic, intellectual and adaptive challenges to implement positive change in their lives. He uses a  variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Choice Theory and Feedback Informed Therapy) in combination as there is no one size fits all approach.

Bryce has experience working within the disability and out of home care sectors, where he functioned as a both a Provisional Psychologist (home visits and in clinic) and as a Behaviour Support Practitioner. As such, he has developed skills in stake holder liaison, client advocacy and improving client autonomy and capacities. He has strong experience supporting children and adolescents (including their supporting parents and care givers) due to his role as a School Psychologist, including assessment and intervention, safety planning and risk assessment, coping and management strategies, stake holder liaison. HE has subsequently supported these individuals with self-esteem, identity, anxiety, depression, stress challenges, in addition to bullying, sexualising abuse, interpersonal challenges, cancer support and resource provisions such as community financial, food, and housing supports to name a few.
